The Recreation Department offers hundreds of popular programs, classes and activities for all school ages to adults and seniors at the John A. Anderson Recreation Center/ Anthony T. Brunetta Pavilion on North Oceanside Rd.
The Recreation Center houses two gymnasiums, four nursery school rooms, an auditorium, meeting rooms, a large children’s playground with SmartPlayground and sprinkler park, outdoor basketball court, handball wall and a passive park and soccer field.
The department has operated a nursery school program for more than 45 years, which provides a nurturing environment to prepare children for kindergarten. The program has four pre-k rooms, and indoor and outdoor playground facilities, including a SprayPark. Hundreds of residents participate in the summer playground which has run every year since 1954. The summer basketball programs for youths and adults includes 100 teams. The spring, summer, and snowflake softball leagues provided spectators and players evenings of recreational fun with competition for men and women in eight divisions.
Popular annual events also bring out thousands of residents who collect goodies at the Spring Egg Hunt, Halloween Dance Party & Parade, enjoy the Christmas tree lighting, the community Chanukah party, Breakfast with Santa’s Helpers and RVC Races.
