Fitness Classes

As people grow older, an active lifestyle is more important than ever.  Regular exercise can help older adults boost energy, maintain independence and manage symptoms of illness and pain.  Senior exercise and fitness tips can even reverse some of the symptoms of aging.  Exercise is not only good for the body, it is good for mind, mood and memory.

Sandel holds a variety of fitness classes every morning designed to improve muscular strength, flexibility, endurance and balance. A chair support is offered in all of our fitness classes to safely perform a variety of seated and standing postures for range of motion. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation promotes stress reduction and mental clarity.

The Sandel Center offers classes for all levels of fitness – from “just getting started” to “very challenging”.  All fitness instructors are certified in Older Adult Fitness.  Staff is available to help determine which class will best suit your needs.

Cardio Core - Join this invigorating group exercise class as you are lead through a variety of movements utilizing large muscle groups while incorporating balls, bands and light weights for resistance training. Mondays at 10am with Sheila.

Fit & Fun - A combination class that offers various movements to improve all aspects of physical fitness. This heart healthy workout set to great music will be a mixture of dance, free weights, resistance balls, and bands. It is designed to improve balance and stability while developing muscle awareness to aid in preventing slips and falls. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30am with Nancy.

Total Body Workout - A class that is safe and gentle on the joints. This workout includes easy to follow low impact moves, upper body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises to energize your active lifestyle. Fridays at 10:30am with Megan and Claudia.

Pilates - The method of core training which includes abdominal, back and hip muscles with additional muscle conditioning workout. Wednesdays at 10:30am with Mary.

Yoga - Enhance range of motion, stretching and relaxation movements through basic yoga-like techniques. Mondays at 11am with Lucia.
