Annual Emissions

Niagara Falls

Did you know that approximately 75% of Rockville Centre's energy comes from hydropower that is generated at Niagara Falls? This energy makes the long trip down to Long Island through high power transmission lines that run throughout New York State. We also purchase energy in the wholesale energy market. During summer months when our energy demand is high or in times of emergencies or transmission interruptions, RVC will generate energy at its Maple Avenue power plant. Because most of our power comes from a clean energy source, our air emissions are relatively low as compared to the New York State average.
